So H&M pulls all the stops and organizes for the launch of its Sonia Rykiel Lingerie collaboration a giant electric parade extravaganza ??
Well, Victoria’s Secret will blow them away.
Literally. Blow them away with actual explosions.
Explosions and lace and bikes and knives and babes and more explosions.
Directed by lover of sublety and explosions, Michael Bay.

Before winning the ASVOFF 2009 Communication prize for her Gareth Pugh AW09 fashion film, director Ruth Hogben was Nick Knight’s film editing assistant for 2 years. In this short interview filmed early in the morning before the awards ceremony, Ruth tells us a bit more about the process of making the film....

We’re not sure about the musical merits of this Kate Bush remake, but found the video, directed by Daniel Franke & Martin W. Maier, to be quite stylish...

Mad Men + Brokeback Mountain.
Only a trendfinding genius like Tom Ford could take two of the most recent and stylish film phenomenons and combine them into a single work, “A Single Man”, his first film. (Doesn’t Tom Ford feels like a real-life Don Draper ?)
Mixing the very “in the air” themes of sixties-style nostalgia and repressed homosexuality, the film stars Colin Firth and Julianne Moore, and just made a smash debut at the Venice Film Festival. Colin Firth won the Lion for Best Actor, and the Weinstein brothers negotiated all night to buy the rights to the film...
Is there anything Tom Ford CAN’T do ?
A few months back I ran into this video on Vimeo, I can’t remember how. I’ve kept it bookmarked on my desktop since but somehow never found the time to contact its directro, Xavier Chassaing, to include it in ASVOFF. And now Jean-Paul Lespagnard has somehow also discovered it.
Now I hereby promise that after the ASVOFF launch, I will get in touch with Xavier Chassaing to ask him the story behind this captivating film. Promise

On one side: Ruth Hogben’s groundbreaking film for Gareth Pugh, which is in the ASVOFF 2009 “Communication” section, featuring Natasha V.
On the other side, Adria Petty’s video for Beyoncé’s new single “Sweet Dreams”, featuring some Gareth Pugh outfits.
No need to say more.

“Beautiful fashion imagery and the people behind it” is what new online creative portal TEST promises us.
Launching September 21st, TEST “fuses new and established artists and aesthetes on a series of constantly changing image-led projects.”
Among the first projects on the site is a film for designer Richard Nicoll’ by director Kathryn Ferguson (see “BILLOW” below) and avant-garde milliner Nasir Mazhar.
It should be interesting to see who exactly is behind TEST and how this project aims to distinguish itself from SHOWstudio, the uncontested pioneer in the realm of avant-garde moving fashion imagery.
The biggest mystery remains of course the business model behind these portals...
Developing story.
Photographer/artist/renaissance man Miguel Villalobos previews the trophy he’s creating for October 8th’s ASVOFF Awards at the Centre Pompidou....
Swedish pop singer Annie finally gives full reign to her fashion potential in this new video, which is NOT the music video for her next single “Songs Remind Me Of You.” Among the pieces she wears, you can see her rocking a top by our darling Sandra Backlund.
This uncredited video was made on the shoot for her forthcoming “Don’t Stop” album art, but don’t call this a “making of” — it’s clear this piece was carefully planned and not some accidental offshoot.
It’s more of a 2 birds in 1 stone effort...
